Colchester Laughter Club's going great guns! Report by Helene Buck

I started the first Laughter Club in Colchester on 23rd October 2008 - not without a little trepidation!

My first session was at an Over 50's Club which, with all due respect, should really be called the Over 70's club, and the manager was not at all sure that anyone would turn up. I had 7 extremely brave and game people - hugely 'delighted and it was a lovely session - one of the ladies said she hadn't relaxed so much in years.

Followed this the next day with my first open session - only 3 people but what a 3! Lost control in the Laughter Meditation and had real problems reigning them in - every lesson teaches me something new!

Have successfully run fortnightly sessions at both venues since culminating with a special Christmas Laugh on 23rd Dec - 7 people including a Hatha Yoga teacher - always makes me a bit nervous! - we had an absolutely splendid time and one of the newbies brought his 13 year old daughter - he sent me a text yesterday thanking me for the session and saying he'd never seen his daughter so happy -- now I have a grin the size of a watermelon and am so looking forward to my sessions in the New Year - starting with one in Spain in a yoga yurt up a mountain - woo hoo!
