Summary: Laughter and joy facilitator.

Personal statement: Leela is deeply passionate about laughter and its health-boosting, joy-boosting, stress-relieving effects, and runs Shinetime (www.shinetime.co.uk)- offering laughter, joy, creativity and play workshops for adults.

"I really started to fully recognise the value of laughter after suffering from back problems for many years. A friend recommended a laughter session, and my initial apprehension was very soon replaced with a powerful awareness of how much stress and tension I was holding in my body day-to-day, and how little I was actually laughing.

I was totally inspired, became a Laughter Facilitator in 2005, and have been spreading the message of laughter ever since - culminating in Shinetime's creation last year. This work is so exciting, and so needed! I love it.

I have run workshops for large and small corporate groups including Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Hay Group, charities, school staff, exhibitions, carers days and private parties, with exceptionally positive feedback (see www.shinetime.co.uk). I also run regular open workshops in Central London to which everyone is welcome! Laughing together is wonderful for connecting us, for confidence, inhibition, and positivity. It really is magical.

I use elements of Laughter Yoga, movement, sound, play, meditation and art in my work. I'm also doing clown training, so that often comes in as well because I find it such a joy, and so powerful. Participants gain a deeper understanding of the benefits of laughter in their lives, the connection between the mind and body, and rediscover their playfulness.

My other work is also connected with play! I tutor kids in English, using play and humour as a tool for learning. I also work as a voluntary play therapist for Carefree Kids in East London, and a playworker at Great Ormond Street Hospital.".
