The Laughter Network
The Laughter Network Mission
Laughter. it's on everyone's lips!
The Laughter Network is a non-profit organisation formed to spread and promote the increase of laughter and the expansion of joy! Our mission is to touch everyone's lives with laughter, for health, happiness and work-life balance.
The Laughter Network aims to bring together laughter professionals from all around the country, with diverse talents and a common love and use of laughter in their work.
We want laughter to be taken seriously (!) to bring more happiness, greater health benefits, self-empowerment and the confidence to just be ourselves. Of course it goes without saying; THAT LAUGHING IS GREAT FUN TOO!
We aim to make laughter the norm, not the occasion.
The Laughter Network - what is it?
The Laughter Network was formed in 2004 to act as a one-stop directory and source of support and information for businesses and individuals searching for more laughter and humour in their work and lives. The Laughter Network acts as a platform for pioneering laughter work and for practitioners to be promoted, accessed and easily contacted.
The Laughter Network is not a monitoring service for either its members, laughter practitioners in general or laughter work as a whole.
Members take full ownership and responsibility for their own work, experience, clients and insurance. We do not vet, measure or manage our members but we do ask them to commit to attending official Laughter Network training and one or more community or promotional events throughout the year.
Laughter Network members can keep in touch through an on-line community group where they can share their experiences, promote their work, raise questions and offer advice and inspiration to other members.
The Laughter Network aims to build a community filled with laughter. We are an organically growing organisation where emphasis is placed on the mutual investment and effort of both the network and its members. In becoming members of The Laughter Network, laughter professionals are committed to a similar ethos and to the mutual promotion and support of both the network, other members and laughter as a whole.
The Laughter Network - who are the founders?
We are a committee of four people, each working in laughter, healing and creative arts, business and therapies.
The Laughter Network was born out of the want and the need to create a cohesive and supportive foundation for laughter and laughter professionals in order to expand the growth and use of laughter, both for joy and as a therapeutic tool.
Laughter deeply touches us as individuals and we are excited to be pioneering the community growth of the laughter movement and to be increasing awareness of all laughter work.
The founders of the Laughter Network are Amanda Bate, Rhonda Blunden, Robin Graham and Julie Whitehead.

The Laughter Network - who and what are the members?
The Laughter Network does not act as an agent for its members. The members pledge to offer only services within their scope of experience and qualifications but are independent practitioners, fully responsible for their own insurance, work and actions.
Each member comes with unique talents and from a varied foundation of laughter work. Their backgrounds differ in terms of training and levels of experience and each use distinctive laughter and humour methods.
The members are part of a laughter community where their input is crucial to the development and sustainability of the Network. The Laughter Network believes that a good reputation and overall success is built on positive communication and we welcome our member's suggestions, comments and involvement. The commitment of the members to supporting the network, fellow members and to pursuing the expansion of joy and laughter is key to the network's success.

The Laughter Network - what is a laughter session and what can I expect?
The aim of laughter sessions is to create and encourage laughter, freedom of expression, greater confidence, healing and enjoyment. Our jobs as laughter specialists is to facilitate laughter, not to entertain - although we think you will find the sessions entertaining! Sessions aim to be joyful and are usually interactive. To get the best from each experience we advise participants to let go and be willing to join in. Willingness to lose your inhibitions and be yourself will enhance your laughter experience.
Laughter Network members work in various ways and often there are different degrees, paths and exercises to developing laughter in a session.
The Laughter Network - how do I choose a practitioner from here?
