Personal statement: Joe Hoare comes from a management background and is a facilitator with over 25 years experience in ‘soft’ skills (team building, stress management and communication).

He started running laughter workshops over 12 years ago and trained with Dr Kataria in June 2002. He is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of West of England (U.W.E.) where he has been providing laughter seminars on the Foundation of Health Nursing Degree course.

In 2006 Joe organised the first ever LAUGH-A-THON in collaboration with Mind Body Spirit Festival to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

• His clients range from blue-chips to voluntary organisations to the general public, and sessions range from conference presentations, team sessions, to specialist workshops. He can usually be found at Glastonbury Festival.
• His work features regularly in the media (BBC2’s ‘Don’t Die Young’ with Dr Alice Roberts, for example), he is Training Zone’s contributor on humour in the workplace, and his work is part of the Open University material on cardio-vascular health.
