- find out how the idea of Laughter Clubs originated
- learn the basic guidelines for a Laughter Session
- identify the role of the Anchor Person in a Laughter Club
- get to know the benefits of Laughter Yoga as well as the contra-indications
- find out how to start a Laughter Club

What will we be doing?
Everyone attending the workshop will have had some practical experience of Laughter sessions and the objectives of this training are to give you the opportunity to facilitate running your own laughter session, develop your own ideas, top up your facilitation toolbox as well giving practical advice. - Practical Guidelines for running Laughter sessions, eg as a club, a social activity and in a teambuilding context
Who we are:
Joe Hoare is a facilitator with over 20 years experience in the field of team-building, stress management and communication skills. He started running laughter workshops over 10 years ago and trained with Dr Kataria in June 2002. He is a visiting Lecturer at the University of West of England (U.W.E.) where he has been providing laughter seminars on the Foundation of Health Nursing Degree course. Joe organised the first ever LAUGH-A-THON in collaboration with Mind Body Spirit Festival to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation in 2006. His clients range from blue-chip companies to voluntary organisations to the general public. He can usually be found at Glasto, The Big Green Gathering and Bestival.
His work recently appeared on BBC2’s ‘Don’t Die Young’ with Dr Alice Roberts.
Julie Whitehead, qualified Yoga, Relaxation & Meditation teacher; Qualified Laughter Leader Trainer and Happiness Coach. She has practised and taught Hatha Yoga for many years and since training with Doctor Kataria, the founder of the Laughter Club Movement in June 2002 has been spreading laughter throughout society. She ran regular public laughter clubs for 3 years but has now passed this role on to Laughter Leaders she has trained. With a fusion of laughter, fun, yoga, and breathing techniques Julie’s work brings about an awareness of the mind/body connection and how we can influence this for the improvement of our health and wellbeing, bringing more positive energy and control into our lives. She gives talks and seminars using laughter to motivate and team build for companies, exhibitions and special interest groups. Robin Graham is a performance poet, playwrite and Laughter Facilitator. He has been developing his laughter-related work since 1998, both in his writing and as a laughter leader. He has run sessions around the UK learning techniques and developing a deeper understanding of the power of laughter. He specialises in the areas of “Arts and Health” and has more recently been working with people with depression and mental health issues. He is co-founder of the Laughter Network and loves raspberries.
